Quenching Quality

Uniformity, Toughness, and Stability for Large Molds

Certified Quality & NADCA Compliance

735kg Large Block Test Verification

We conducted a rigorous test on a 735kg mold block to verify the cooling uniformity from surface to core.

Test Results :

  • Center Hardness : 40.9 HRC

  • Surface Hardness : 42.2 HRC

  • Conclusion: The hardness difference is minimal (< 1.5 HRC), proving that KW-HT achieves excellent uniformity even for massive molds.

Superior Impact Toughness (Charpy V-Notch)

The Water Mist Cooling system delivers impact values that meet or exceed NADCA #207-2003 standards.

Comparison of Acceptance Criteria:

  • Vacuum Gas Cooling : Avg. 14.9 J/cm²

  • Oil Quenching : Avg. 19.0 J/cm² * KW-HT Water Mist : Capable of achieving > 20 J/cm² (e.g., 22.8 J/cm² for H13).

Result: KW-HT provides the toughness of oil quenching without the environmental hazards.

Pure Martensitic Structure

Fine Grain Structure: The microstructure consists of fine, tempered Martensite, free from grain boundary carbides, Pearlite, or Bainite.

  • Consistency: As shown in the comparison images, the microstructure at the Center of the 735kg block is virtually identical to the Periphery, ensuring consistent tool life throughout the entire mold.
